Deputy Chef Manager

Contract: Full Time - Perm

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £14.01 per hour weekdays & £14.51 per hour weekends

Shift Times: 8am/8.30am to 5pm/5.30pm - Weekdays & Alternate Weekends

Location: Hangers Wood Way, South Oxhey, Watford, WD19 7DY

We are seeking an Experienced Chef to join our newly opened purpose built Care Home Furzewood Lodge in South Oxhey, Watford. The 75 bed modern facility has been thoughtfully designed to provide an excellent working environment and state of the art home for residents. Nestled in the heart of South Oxhey, it offers a welcoming setting with excellent local amenities, green open spaces, and convenient transport links, creating a comfortable and well-connected environment for residents and staff alike.

Exciting developments are underway at Pinewood Lodge, which will soon relocate to a brand-new, purpose-built care home in the South Oxhey area at Furzewood Lodge Care Home. The modern facility has been thoughtfully designed to provide an excellent working environment and will include a newly fitted, fully equipped commercial kitchen.

What You’ll Bring

• Strong understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace
• Knowledge of food safety standards and safe working practices
• Willingness to complete relevant training and ongoing CPD
• Experience in food preparation, cooking and service
• Familiarity with hygiene standards in a professional kitchen
• Ability to prepare homely, nutritious meals that meet a wide range of dietary needs
• A team‑focused attitude and good communication skills

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring all food safety and hygiene standards are met
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to a consistently high standard
• Support and guide kitchen staff, helping to build skills and confidence
• Manage food production processes to maintain smooth workflow and quality control
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
